The Best Work at Home Jobs that are Not Scams? Try the Ones on Our List

With so many people claiming to make a fortune online, it’s normal to wonder if they are actually telling the truth. For newbies, making money on the Web may seem too good to be true. But here’s the real deal—the best work-at-home jobs that are not scams can actually help you earn thousands of dollars every month.

The Best Work at Home Jobs that are Not Scams?

Making money online often gets a bad rap because many unscrupulous individuals are using it as a lure to scam other people. Those with malicious intent will promise you that you’ll make a lot of money in exchange for a small fee for “training” or “access” to their super-secret system, only to find out that once you’ve sent your payment, you won’t ever again hear from them. Sadly, since they don’t really have an office or a business that you can report to the authorities, it can be hard to get your money back.

The thing with online scams is that they can be done in a myriad of ways. Some will even seem like they’re completely legitimate. This is why you have to be very careful in choosing which online gig to pick. Read reviews and do a good amount of research about the “employer” you plan to work for.

If you are offering your services such as content writing or tutorials, choose sites that regulate clients and freelancers like yourself. It might sound like having a middle man, but it is one of the best ways to ensure that you’ll be dealing with actual people who will pay you for your hard work.

What are the signs that an online gig is a scam?

With enough common sense, you can actually tell if a gig is a scam or not. But here are some telltale signs that you should be wary of to protect yourself from being scammed.

#1 They’ll require a small fee from you

This is a clear sign of a scam: If the first thing that they ask of you is money, you should stay away. While there are legitimate sites that will actually charge a fee to your account for your use of their services, they hardly ever do it before you even get to do anything. Remember, they’re trying to get you to do tasks for them, so really, why should you pay to get to work?

#2 You’ll find a lot of negative reviews online about the gig

One of the best things about trying to make money online is that others who are trying to do the same are on the lookout for each other. Scams are quickly talked and blogged about so they can warn others not to become the next victim. Use this to your advantage and always do a preliminary research about a site, company, or employer, to ensure that you’re on the right track.

#3 Their promises sound too good to be true

Keep in mind that nothing is really for free, so if you want to make money online, you’ll still need to work for it. If the method they’re offering doesn’t involve any kind of work, no matter how menial or simple it may be, odds are, they’re fake. A good amount of research will help you avoid scams online, so make sure to do a good load of it.

The best work-at-home jobs that are not scams

To help you get started in cashing in on the web, here are some examples of the best work at home jobs that are not scams:

Transcriptionists nowadays are very in demand, so if you have some medical background and you want to earn online, this can be the right job for you. Not everyone gets in, though, because of the stringent screening procedure. You’ll also most likely need to work for an employer or a website, but it ensures that you’ll have a steady flow of tasks.

Interesting choice of work online options here – nice to actually find a list for once that has managed to avid the pitfalls of the scammers
I quite like the idea of blogging for a living although I bet theres a steep learning curve – how long did it take you to learn and how successful are you at it?

    • Maxx Tan says:

Hi Chris, Thanks for your words. Blogging is easy but how could leverage it to generate passive income then is different story. If there is easy, everyone will do it and I believe this is the reason it takes time and dedication to learn.

I can’t say I was very successful because there is too much to learn and I’m still learning everyday but I can tell you that I follow the training has been taught and see the results after few month prior of joining.

I’ve searched Google and tried my luck with so many different work from home job programs, that have either requested my money to join and have been low quality or have been scams that have kept my money, giving nothing of value back.

To me, it doesn’t make sense that you must “pay” to join an online job. It should be the other way round, lol.

I appreciate the 3 warning signs, and I’m really intrigued by blogging + Wealthy Affiliate. I will certainly look into your #1 recommendation.

    • Maxx Tan says:

      Hi Neil,

Cant agree more than that, Wealthy Affiliate is the best genuine program so far I have used. The best community and the best training. I am glad you found this site.

      Thank you

    Hi, Maxx,
In reading through your site, it is well laid out, has lots of info and yet reading it from the USA, it reads in broken English. Maybe that’s not important if your target is not Americans, but I wanted to mention it. It’s great that you have included the signs of a scam, lots of links for information, and that you touched on seniors working from home in your marketing site. Seniors are probably a huge market! Have you seen any specific success relative to seniors?

    • Maxx Tan says:

Hi RJ, thanks for pointing out. I love blogging and I believe I have much more to improve for creating my contents. However, I will not give up and you shall see much more professional writing next time you visit my site.

Yes, I do recommend my #1 recommendation to my senior and my closed one (relative). They are glad and working on their own online business since they like to build value during their free time. Thanks for your concern.

      Catch up with you soon.
